ODISHA AT IT'S BEST; THE MOST DISASTER READY STATE

Odisha an eastern coastal Indian state known for its glorious architectural Heritage is India's incredible Best kept secret. It's a land of rich history, culture and who have travelled fallen in love with this land of Jagannath. Odisha is best known for its fine specimen of its Temple especially the Jagannath (the Lord of the universe) temple in Puri.

one more reason for which this state is known is its ability to face and tackle with the worst disasters. With the natural disasters every year or the other and if we take cyclone, Odisha has been hit by seven cyclones between 2013 to 2018 and before that the 1999 super cyclone of Odisha has A Remarkable impact with its devastating effect. It affected vast areas of coastal Odisha  basically from Balesore to Ganjam which cause a great damage to Agricultural crops, from properties to  loss of human life to about 10,000 people and loss of large number of cattle and animals.

Between the year 2013 to 2018 the most cyclones were 2013 Phailin, 2014 Hud Hud and 2019 fani. In the year 2013 when Cyclone Phailin hit, Odisha undertook the largest ever evacuation shifting  over 11 lakh people and the most important part is that it saw a decreasing number of facilities and damage as compared to 1999 super cyclone. A great success of Odisha disaster management authority and  it has drawn a praise from worldwide including the United Nations and the World Bank.

Odisha is  the first state to establish best management authority i.e. Odisha state Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) in India with 20 units of Odisha disaster rapid action force in 2001 for rescue and relief operations and along with that 880 multi purpose cyclone centers for timely evacuation of people from the most  vulnerable sites. The Government of Odisha passed the Disaster Management Act in the year 2005.

Some other measures that help Odisha to tackle with the worst disasters were the  early warning Towers  set up along the coastline for timely sirens, empowering communities by training volunteers in rescue and relief operations, and the effective communication system between the government and the people.

So it's obvious that Odisha will make more progress to tackle with the worst disasters of all the time and is also ready and prepared to face the upcoming disasters with utmost preparation if any such case arises in the future.

TOGETHER WE WILL GROW TO FACE ALL THE CHALLENGES.
