LAP (Local Area Plan) for Transit- Illustrated Handbook for Indian Cities

06.07.21
This handbook draws its foundations from two sources of law and policy. One, the national TOD policy (MoHUA) and the National Urban Transport Policy (NUTP); and two, provisions in the 12th Schedule of the constitution for urban planning and service delivery, as obligatory functions of urban local bodies. To build on these prescriptions, the handbook relies on efforts undertaken by the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) to institutionalize and mainstream local area planning. Further, this handbook builds on existing academic international literature and guidance documents on development around transit systems. The handbook provides demonstrative examples to contextualize and implement normative constructs of TOD through the local area planning (LAP) process (and vice versa), for the Indian City
